The attached article "Drive-by Pargo" (see pdf below) describes a five-day private charter by an experienced group of spear fishermen in late April of 2006. Six passengers and a crew of three started from Puerto Escondido just south of Loreto and proceeded to island hop from one beautiful fishing location to another with arrival in La Paz on the afternoon of the fifth day. Lunches and dinners were expertly prepared by Chef Judy and consisted mainly of some of the freshly caught fish from each day's catch along with other delicacies brought along for the trip. The scenery during the trip was fantastic, the weather was great and the marine life was fascinating. Here are a few comments by some of the participants:

"Once again, Andrea Tomba has hit upon the magical combination. Working with the beautiful yacht EL DON, we spent 5 fantastic days exploring the underwater wilderness that lies between Loreto and La Paz. The boat was a perfect platform for diving and spearing fish, and very comfortable as a live-aboard charter. The captain and crew were spot on, always there when you needed them, and never seeming to mind any request to help make things work well for us. The anchorage at the south end of Isla Catalina was especially magical. While the diving and fish at Isla Santa Cruz were almost unbelievable, with large pargo and big yellowtail that put the fuerte into pez fuerte!!!!! The meals were excellent, and our chef Judy always had a beautiful smile to go along with her wonderful home style cooking.

I would like to thank Gary Noland for the opportunity to travel thru this island paradise with himself and his crew. Hasta la vista my friends."

"Exploring the Sea of Cortez from Loreto to La Paz, we have the opportunity to be one with the rich underwater realm, and to feel part of the stunning nature that surrounds us. However, more so, far away from telephones, faxes, cell phones and emails, you feel light years away from the hum of your daily routine. What better way to relax and get away from it all than to share the beauty of the Sea of Cortez from dawn 'til dusk, with friends, eating fresh "catch of the day - every day" and then, from dusk 'til dawn, being treated to the mesmerizing display of the still, quiet, deserted, starlit night."

"For me, the whole experience of getting to know the islands and to become aware that they are still virgin and pristine makes me feel that everyone should get to know them, and even more, want to conserve them. I sincerely hope that I will be able to share this beauty with my children first hand, and not be forced to do so by DVD. The experience of spear fishing with some of the top spear fishermen made me appreciate the selectivity and effort that these sportsmen use in their hunt, and makes the negative comments often heard from sport fishermen about this sport, seem ridiculous. Before judging it, try swapping a cold Corona for being part of the food chain!"
